HISTORY
The history of this dog breed is just as interesting as they look, would you believe that at one point in the 1960s, a club had been set up, which was called the Club Espanol del Presa Canario. This was done as this dog breed was close to extinction, this club had also built up a provisional standard for this dog breed and had it published by the government of those islands. In 1991, the Presa Canario was included in the list of national symbols of the islands. And finally, in the year 2001, the Spanish national government officially recognized this breed.
